But you could also use Julianos, Spell strategist, etc. (and off-balance from Maelstrom lightning staff on back bar). because of the easier and more reliable access to minor vuln. On dungeons, overland and solo content I use Infallible Mage instead of PFG. On trials I use mostly PFG+Medusa (I would use Siroria but had a ~4 year break and still learning all the mechanics, new and old, so don't feel comfortable using it). After the first Off Balance debuff ends on a boss enemy, they will be immune to subsequent Off Balance debuffs until this immunity duration is over. Using a fully-charged Heavy Attack against an Off Balance enemy will restore double the amount of resources.īoss enemies can only be set Off Balance for 7 seconds with a 22 seconds cooldown. You can use Power Lash to stun enemy Players. Using a Heavy Attack against an Off Balance enemy player character will stun them, in the same way that it stuns monsters. You can use Power Lash on an enemy until the Off Balance effect expires or is consumed. Using a Heavy Attack against an Off Balance boss enemy will not consume the Off Balance effect, as bosses are immune to crowd control effects. Using a Heavy Attack against an Off Balance enemy will only consume the Off Balance debuff if the enemy is successfully stunned. Using a Heavy Attack against an Off Balance enemy will deal 70% more damage. Just put infused/crusher on my tank backbar staffs and tell myself that I’m helping lol. I’ve never been too sure on how all the stun, immobilize, and off balance effects actually works. Could be old? I had never noticed until I starting going down this rabbit hole. To play a non-HA magsorc takes much more skill though, usually magsorcs are quite squishy unless the player knows what they're doing (like I actually remember the names of magsorcs I fought that gave me a hard time, whereas other classes I don't).įor a beginner with the class, I would suggest HA to get some kills and for solo PVE (works on other classes too) and then no matter what, progressing towards stats in PVP so you actually learn to play well because depending on procs isn't a good habbit, down the road. With a HA build, you can hit really hard but you need a few ticks of your HA to kill players and although it's a much easier playstyle, good players will tear through you because you can't streak as much and you're squishier and less mobile. You hit really hard and it's all about speed and bursting down opponents in a few seconds with crit and desync (frags/overload/ele/glyph/LA all sort of land at the same time for the receiver of the burst and you finish off with endless fury). You're wearing well-fitted armor, rolling a lot, you're constantly applying your shields and spamming crystal frags, elemental weapon with inferno destro and overload. If you stack magicka to do shield stacking and use Healing Ward, Hardened Ward and Dampen Magicka, that's a completely different playstyle. I main stamden and I sometimes get hit with 18k HAs from sorcs, when 1vXing that can easily be the end of it. Heavy Attack builds are very straight forward, they do good for solo PVE and can be super annoying to fight in PVP, especially when outnumbered since lightning HAs are undodgeable.
